Recently, the reporter learned from the Hubei Provincial Port and Navigation Development Center was informed that in the first quarter of this year, Hubei Province, the volume of containerized iron and water intermodal transport to complete 55,800 TEU, an increase of 29.6%, the volume of containerized iron and water intermodal transport accounted for the proportion of the port's container throughput of 8.79%, a record high.

It is reported, Hubei Province, containerized iron and water intermodal transport volume accounted for 2.8% from the end of 2022, rose to 5.32% by the end of 2023, in the first quarter of this year again jumped to 8.79%, to achieve growth by leaps and bounds, marking the further optimization of Hubei Province, the transport structure adjustment, the quality of transport has been greatly improved, which Hubei to Sichuan and other places "Yangtze River liner The opening of the "Yangtze River Liner" is a great credit.

"Yangtze River Liner" give full play to the advantages of all-weather transportation channel, in the form of rail-water intermodal transport, will be the Sichuan and Chongqing and other places of goods through the container by rail to Jingzhou Yanka, Wuhan Yangluo and other ports, take the waterway to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the west is to return according to the original route. The "Yangtze River Liner" effectively avoids the Three Gorges Hub locks, giving full play to the advantages of all-weather transportation channel, significantly shorten the transportation time, effectively reduce the overall cost of enterprise logistics, so that the Sichuan and Chongqing region and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River significantly improve the efficiency of the exchange of goods. Taking Chengdu to Shanghai as an example, during the period of congestion on shipping routes, the goods arrive at Wuhan via "Yangtze River Liner" and then seamlessly connect with water transportation to Shanghai, and the average transportation time is at least 15 days shorter than that of the traditional direct water transportation, which effectively reduces the comprehensive cost of logistics for enterprises, and significantly improves the efficiency of the exchange of goods between the Sichuan-Chongqing region and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Since the opening of "Yangtze River Liner" in December 2023, it has immediately shown explosive growth, and in the first quarter of 2024, a total of 434 columns were shipped (of which 251 columns were out of the east and 183 columns were in the west), with a total of 21,500 TEUs. In March alone, the number of trains and cargoes sent in a single month reached a record high of 168 columns and 223,000 tons, up 22% from the previous month.

The next step, the Department of Transportation of Hubei Province will continue to promote the construction of channels, boost the "Yangtze River Liner" actively open up new routes, increase to Huangshi Port, Ezhou Port, Yichang Port of iron and water intermodal transit lines, from the initial stage of the single line, a small number of stations to expand rapidly to 30 intermodal routes, 17 arrival and departure stations. The "Yangtze River Liner" runs across the east and west, and the "China-Europe Liner" runs through the north and south, and the two lines meet in Wuhan, which builds a large iron and water intermodal transportation channel in Hubei, further enhances the transportation efficiency of the Yangtze River golden waterway, and promotes the high-quality linked development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
