Poland’s one and only busmaker Solaris debuts new and updated electrified bus models at its home show Transexpo as planned. The star of the booth is the Solaris Urbino 12 LE lite hybrid while updated versions of the common Urbino series complete the line-up.
Clearly, Solaris did not choose the name of their latest hybrid electric bus lightly. The Urbino 12 LE lite hybrid is a lightweight in his class with its weight of under nine tons and said to consume no more than 30 litres of fuel per 100 km (SORT-2-Testing).
Delivering the savings is a drive system with a volume of 4.5 litres combined with an electrical drive with a power of 11.5 kW. The Urbino LE lite hybrid complies with the EURO 6 exhaust emission standard and has 154 kW and torque of 832 Nm. he hybrid drive recuperates energy during braking in order to assist the combustion engine when starting.
The Solaris Urbino 12 LE lite hybrid will be available in two versions, depending on the number of doors. Moreover, by opting for a hybrid drive, Solaris opens up new target groups such as transit agencies with little or no experience in electric transport or those with smaller budgets.
