The ’17 Ram Power Wagon Gets a Redesign

The beefiest of beefy off-road trucks—the Ram Power Wagon—has received some upgrades for 2017. If the new grille seems familiar, that’s because it resembles the 1500 Rebel. You may also notice the blacked-out bumpers, headlight trim, body moldings, mirrors, and wheelwells, which offer a bold look to this big truck—not to mention the new graphics. The interior also gets a freshening (think: embroidery and stitching). The returning powerplant is the 6.4L Hemi V-8 worth 410 horses and 429 lb-ft of torque.

Fullsize Truck Depreciation Slowing Down
Pretty good trend happening for us truck owners: Black Book Auto has noticed that fullsize pickups are experiencing the least depreciation since September 2015. What’s helping matters is that both gas and diesel prices keep dropping. “Trucks experienced the smallest week over week depreciation seen this year,” noted Anil Goyal, VP of Automotive Valuation and Analytics.

Ram Diesels to Get New Calibration Settings in Future
Fiat Chrysler has announced it will be releasing new calibrations for its most recent diesel vehicles to make them cleaner (they do already meet the emissions standards, and no defeat devices are being used), and it will offer a new filtering method. “FCA intends to accelerate its ongoing programs to expand application of active selective catalytic reduction (or SCR) technology that is already used in certain vehicles to make it available on other diesel engines families starting from the second quarter of 2017, well in advance of any applicable regulatory requirements.” Expect some new testing procedures as well.
