May 20, 2024 - At ACT Expo in Las Vegas, CONMET showcased its latest freight efficiency solutions. Advanced technologies on display included Nmotion™ wheel generators, TruckWings® active aerodynamics systems, PreSet Plus® wheel ends, interior and exterior plastic parts, and lightweight castings.

CONMET Introduces Latest Freight Efficiency Solutions at ACT Expo

These technologies demonstrate CONMET's commitment to revolutionizing the freight transportation industry by increasing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

The Nmotion TR series generator is a technological innovation for refrigerated trailers that utilizes electricity generated by wheel motors to operate an electric transport refrigeration unit (eTRU). As a result, refrigerated trailers can achieve zero emissions, reducing fuel costs and CO2 emissions. The complete Nmotion™ system will be demonstrated at the ACT Expo with the Carrier Transicold Vector eCool trailer.

TruckWings® technology, another outstanding product on display, improves freight efficiency by automatically closing the gap between the tractor and trailer on the highway. This innovative solution improves aerodynamics and increases vehicle efficiency by an average of 3-6%, regardless of fuel type. With TruckWings®, CONMET enables fleets to significantly save fuel and reduce their carbon footprint, extending the range of electric trucks.

The Freightliner eCascadia, provided by Knight-Swift Transportation, will be on display at the CONMET booth during the ACT Expo, showcasing TruckWings® on electric trucks.

In addition to these groundbreaking advancements, CONMET's PreSet Plus® wheel ends offer a host of benefits to the freight industry. Constructed from lightweight aluminum alloy, these wheel ends reduce the overall weight of the vehicle, resulting in improved fuel efficiency. CONMET has also taken the next step in wheel end technology by redesigning the oil seals and bearings to further reduce rolling resistance and increase vehicle efficiency.

CONMET's commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by the use of plastics for interior and exterior components, and in some cases these systems can replace metal parts to reduce weight. Non-structural plastic parts can also be made from renewable fillers, including the conversion of landfill waste, which is used to generate additional carbon offsets in production.

In addition, CONMET's lightweight aluminum castings provide significant weight savings. With a 40 percent weight reduction in the engine crossmember and a 57 percent weight reduction in the rear crossmember, these cast components contribute to fuel efficiency and payload capacity. By utilizing innovative designs and materials, CONMET continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for applications in the freight industry.
