Foton CAVAN BEACON Heavy Truck + Letu Light Truck: Hydrogen and Electricity Advance Together to Reconstruct the Transport Capacity Ecosystem
In the first 11 months of this year, domestic sales of new energy commercial vehicles exceeded 820,000 units, a year-on-year increase of over 66%, with the penetration rate climbing to 25.7%. Amid the deep integration of intelligence and green development, multiple market segments are becoming focal points of competition for vehicle manufacturers.

From December 18 to 19, Foton CAVAN successively launched the mass-production version of the BEACON heavy truck and the CAVAN Letu custom flagship light truck. Covering everything from heavy-load line-haul to urban delivery, these vehicles leverage a forward-developed platform strategy to meet the diverse needs of the logistics industry.
First Mass Production of Liquid Hydrogen Heavy Truck, Three Energy Forms Cover 90% of Scenarios
Foton CAVAN's BEACON heavy truck launched three mass-production models: pure electric, gaseous hydrogen, and liquid hydrogen. Among them, the liquid hydrogen heavy truck is the first product in China aimed at mass production.
The BEACON is built on Foton's self-developed "electric or hydrogen" intelligent heavy truck dedicated platform. This allows for flexible selection of power forms based on different transport scenarios, covering 90% of heavy truck operating conditions. The platform can derive 15 vehicle model types, with battery specifications ranging from 225 kWh to 677 kWh, and hydrogen storage systems available in both liquid and gaseous forms.

To address the most challenging issue in long-haul transport—energy replenishment—the BEACON's answer is: an 8-minute charge for 100 kilometers of range, and a 15-minute hydrogen refill for over 1,000 kilometers of range. This is made possible by the mass-production application of an 800V high-voltage platform and megawatt ultra-fast charging technology.
In terms of operating costs, the vehicle's drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.28, nearly half that of traditional heavy trucks, resulting in an energy consumption reduction of about 16%. Through lightweight design, the vehicle weight has been reduced by 500 kilograms, achieving a weight level comparable to diesel vehicles.
In cab design, the ultra-low floor height of 1450 millimeters reduces the step-in height by 18%. The width of the sleeper berth reaches 1 meter, with 420 liters of storage space. The four-point suspension cab mount, combined with air-suspended seats, improves comfort by 20%.

In terms of safety, the cab features a cage-type structure made of high-strength steel and hot-formed materials. It has passed nine extreme crash tests and the stringent EU ECE R29-03 certification, with a 67% improvement in safety. Intelligent driving configurations include a 7-camera, 5-radar, 1-lidar perception network, covering 26 categories and 114 scenarios, enabling 22 assisted driving functions.
Letu Light Truck Focuses on Customization, Full-Load Range Exceeds 450 Kilometers
As the industry's first forward-developed pure electric light truck platform product, the Letu targets urban delivery and intercity highway scenarios. It offers battery capacity options from 100 kWh to 165 kWh, with a full-load range exceeding 450 kilometers, covering over 90% of single-trip urban transport needs.
The vehicle's energy consumption is only 35 kWh per 100 kilometers, more than 20% lower than the industry average, saving over RMB 10,000 annually in charging costs.

For different scenarios, Foton CAVAN Letu offers various customized configurations: the mountain version features a dedicated electric drive axle and high-power motor to enhance climbing performance. The cold-zone version includes battery insulation layers and heated steering wheel to address low-temperature range degradation and driving comfort.
The cab interior design is also moving closer to passenger vehicles, incorporating a fully flat low floor, MPV-level seating position, and an intelligent voice system to improve the working environment for transporters.

Service Network and Digital Management Operate in Parallel
In terms of service support, Foton CAVAN leverages a network of over 400 service channels nationwide, promising a 3-minute response and 1-hour rescue for core operational scenarios. For parts support, the stocking rate for common parts at terminals is 100%, and non-common parts are delivered within 48 hours.
In terms of digital tools, "CAVAN E-Home" provides real-time data monitoring and OTA remote upgrades. The fleet management system integrates with TMS (Transportation Management System) processes, using original vehicle data to optimize transport efficiency.
From the liquid hydrogen heavy truck's thousand-kilometer range to the customized light truck's ultimate energy efficiency, Foton CAVAN's dual-vehicle launch presents the market with a complete low-carbon transport capacity solution. As industry competition enters a critical new phase, Foton CAVAN is accelerating the high-quality transformation and upgrading of China's logistics transport industry through a dual-wheel drive model of "technology + ecosystem."
