Accelerating promotion: Shandong builds 88 high-power charging demonstration stations to boost the scale-up of electric heavy trucks

On September 10, the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial Government held a press conference, disclosing the latest results of the province's promotion of electric heavy trucks. From January to August this year, Shandong added a total of 13,600 electric heavy trucks, a year-on-year increase of 212%, with the penetration rate reaching 33%, up 20 percentage points year-on-year; among them, 3,245 were added in August alone, with a single-month penetration rate as high as 57.3%, demonstrating remarkable market promotion results.

In April this year, Shandong issued an implementation plan for high-power charging demonstration stations for electric heavy trucks and support measures for large-scale application, with 27 detailed implementation rules rolled out as supporting measures. In just five months, the province built the first batch of 88 high-power charging demonstration stations, covering expressway service areas and key points on ordinary national and provincial highways, filling the gap in heavy truck energy replenishment infrastructure.

Local authorities have rolled out a multi-dimensional policy package covering purchase subsidies, loan interest subsidies, insurance guarantees, and the energy replenishment network, with up to 140,000 yuan in stacked subsidies to reduce enterprises' vehicle replacement costs. The coordinated efforts of policies and the energy replenishment network have effectively motivated mining, port, and trunk-line logistics enterprises to replace vehicles, accelerated the phase-out of diesel heavy trucks, promoted the green and low-carbon transformation of the freight industry, and provided a Shandong practice sample for the nationwide large-scale promotion of NEW ENERGY heavy trucks.
