News on September 14: the urban mobility and logistics service autonomous driving pilot application in Haikou Jiangdong New Area successfully passed on-site verification by an expert panel. The project is Hainan's first national-level pilot in the intelligent transportation field and has exceeded all task targets.

The pilot was launched in April 2024, advanced through coordination among multiple departments and implemented jointly with a number of technology enterprises. Focusing on the two major scenarios of urban mobility and logistics services, it built an integrated "vehicle - road - cloud - network - map - security" smart transportation new infrastructure system. Relying on free trade port policies and cultural tourism resources, it created a batch of distinctive demonstration scenarios, opened a regular autonomous driving route from the airport to the city center, covering expressways and major urban roads; launched a dedicated autonomous driving car rental service for tourists; and, in combination with duty-free business districts, scenic areas, and the island-ring tourist highway, developed autonomous driving applications integrating transportation and tourism.
The pilot has formed a replicable and promotable "Hainan Model." Next, Jiangdong New Area will sort out the pilot's mature experience, continue to deeply integrate autonomous driving technology, scenarios, industry, and services, improve the free trade port's smart transportation system, and help promote the innovative development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry.
