Daimler Truck Lands at IAA 2026 in Hannover with Multiple New Products, Showcasing Diversified Powertrains and Safety Technology

　　On September 15, the 2026 Hannover International Commercial Vehicle and Component Show (IAA) officially kicked off. Mercedes-Benz Trucks under Daimler Truck made a major appearance with the industry's latest technologies and innovations, comprehensively presenting a series of achievements ranging from battery-electric and hydrogen-powered models to efficient diesel technology, safety assistance functions and digital solutions, continuing to lead the transport industry forward.

Zero-Carbon Era: Diversified Powertrains, Comprehensive Layout.

　　Daimler Truck has made significant progress in zero-emission transport. In the first half of 2026, Mercedes-Benz Trucks' share of the European zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty truck market was about 38%, continuing to maintain a significant leading position. Based on solid commercialization results, at this IAA, Daimler Truck presented a panoramic view of diversified powertrain routes, covering battery-electric, hydrogen and efficient diesel technologies, forming an overall solution adapted to different scenarios.

New Battery-Electric Member eActros Lowliner Makes Global Debut.

　　The all-new Mercedes-Benz eActros Lowliner made its first public appearance. This model is specially developed for high-volume long-distance zero-carbon transport scenarios. It adopts a 4×2 low-chassis tractor structure, with a wheelbase of 4,000 mm and a cab width of 2.50 m. By optimizing battery layout, this model achieves a lower fifth-wheel height than traditional comparable models, and while complying with legal overall height requirements, it ensures cargo compartment interior height of up to 3 meters. The vehicle can be equipped with dual battery or triple battery packs, covering operational needs of different ranges.

Global Real-World Test Demonstrates Long-Distance Electric Strength.

　　Professional truck driver and creator Tobias Wagner will set off directly from the IAA site, driving an eActros 600 to start a global round-the-world journey. The journey is planned to last about one year, pass through about 30 countries across five continents, with a total distance of about 45,000 kilometers, and is also scheduled to reach China. The entire trip is expected to involve no more than 80 charging sessions, validating the application potential of battery-electric trucks in diverse global operating environments through real-world scenarios.

Hydrogen Long-Distance Solution NextGenH2 Makes a Grand Appearance.

　　The new-generation Mercedes-Benz hydrogen fuel cell truck NextGenH2 also made its debut at IAA as the flagship hydrogen model, marking that the mass-production process of hydrogen long-distance transport has entered a new stage.

　　NextGenH2 continues the liquid hydrogen technology route and is equipped with the BZA150 fuel cell produced by cellcentric. This fuel cell has proven its reliability and efficiency in actual applications of the first-generation model. The new model can achieve a range significantly exceeding 1,000 kilometers after a single hydrogen refueling, while also offering the advantage of rapid refueling, fully meeting the real operational needs of heavy-duty long-distance transport.

Efficient Diesel Technology Reinvented.

　　While electrification is developing rapidly, diesel power still has important significance in specific application scenarios. The new-generation diesel powertrain Powerliner exhibited by Mercedes-Benz Trucks features technical highlights including a new combustion concept, turbocharger optimization, a new-generation transmission, and a powertrain control strategy designed for low engine speeds. After comprehensive improvements, the new-generation Powerliner can reduce fuel consumption by about 4%, significantly improving daily operational efficiency while reducing carbon dioxide emissions, achieving higher economy and compliance in road freight.

Active Safety Upgraded Again: Reshaping Safety Boundaries with Technology.

　　Facing complex traffic scenarios, Mercedes-Benz Trucks showcased multiple new and iteratively upgraded safety assistance systems, covering core technologies such as active braking and driver attention assistance, further enhancing driving support and setting new standards for heavy commercial vehicle transport safety.

　　Among them, the newly launched Active Cross Traffic Assist can actively support the driver when it detects a risk of collision with vehicles or motorcycles approaching at high speed from the side; the third-generation Active Sideguard Assist 3 comprehensively improves protection performance when the vehicle turns on both sides, and for the first time adds automatic braking in lane-turning scenarios on the driver's side.

Across 130 Years: Special Anniversary Edition Pays Tribute to the Classic.

　　To commemorate Mr. Gottlieb Daimler's invention of the first truck in 1896, Mercedes-Benz Trucks specially launched the "Truck 130th Anniversary Edition" model. This special edition is limited to 400 units worldwide and is built on Mercedes-Benz Actros L and eActros 600 models equipped with the ProCabin cab, offering both diesel and battery-electric powertrain versions. The vehicle is equipped with nearly 30 exclusive customized configurations, blending retro color schemes, classic materials and retro design elements into modern vehicle design, aiming to continue the brand's accumulated classic genes into contemporary long-haul heavy trucks and build a bridge between the 130-year history of truck development and the transformation of road freight.
