On September 16, the Guangxi Pinglu Canal—the first canal connecting rivers and the sea since the founding of New China—officially opened to navigation. As a backbone project of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, it connects the main stream of the Xijiang River with the Beibu Gulf sea-going port, reshapes the logistics map of the Southwest region, and brings new opportunities for road-water intermodal transport and river-sea transshipment. As a leading automaker rooted in Guangxi for 72 years, DFAC Liuzhou Motor actively aligns with the national strategic layout, actively participates in the canal construction process, and, with efficient commercial vehicle products and full-scenario transport capacity solutions, deeply integrates into the upgrading of the regional transport industry, safeguarding the new sea-going corridor for Southwest cargo flowing to ASEAN.

On the day of the event, DFAC Liuzhou Motor passenger vehicle KD parts, as one of the first-voyage cargoes of the Pinglu Canal, passed through the canal, set sail from Beibu Gulf Port, and headed for the ASEAN market. The sea-going link of "Liuzhou Manufacturing-Pinglu Canal-Beibu Gulf Port-Global Market" has since been further opened up. Liu Xiaoping, Party Secretary of DFAC Liuzhou Motor, was invited to attend the maiden voyage ceremony as a corporate representative and witnessed this historic moment.

Since the construction stage of the Pinglu Canal project, Chenglong trucks have devoted themselves to the front line of this century-defining project. A large number of Chenglong heavy engineering trucks have undertaken the transport of sand and gravel, building materials, and engineering supplies. With strong load-bearing capacity and all-weather reliability, they ensured a continuous supply of canal construction materials and witnessed the canal moving from blueprint to navigation.

After the Pinglu Canal opened to navigation, the inland waterway voyage for Southwest cargo going to sea is shortened by about 560 kilometers, comprehensive logistics costs are reduced by 18%-30%, and more than 5 billion yuan in social transportation costs are saved each year. With the rise of river-sea intermodal transport, demand for short-haul transfers, container transshipment, and trunk-line collection and distribution among ports, port areas, wharves, and freight yards continues to be released. Transport is shifting from single long-haul road transport to "water + road" multimodal transport, placing higher requirements on the reliability, energy efficiency, and operating availability of transport vehicles.
Facing new transport challenges, Chenglong once again takes on the needs of new road-water intermodal transport scenarios, creating for logistics companies a full-series transport capacity product matrix suitable for port-area shuttles, container tractors, trunk-line express transport, and bulk material transfer. It covers multiple technology routes such as fuel, LNG, and NEW ENERGY battery swapping, balancing the three core demands of greenness, efficiency, and cost reduction.

Relying on lightweight chassis, golden powertrain, and intelligent connected technology, Chenglong NEW ENERGY tractor trucks, IGV autonomous container trucks, and other green intelligent equipment show significant advantages in port-area shuttle and port-hinterland trunk-line transport scenarios. The vehicles are highly aligned with the low-carbon logistics development requirements of the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt, can meet the operational needs of high-frequency turnover and continuous operation in multimodal transport, and help logistics companies achieve green transformation.

The Pinglu Canal opens up the river-sea arteries, trucks connect factories, freight yards, and wharves, opening a new chapter for the Southwest seaward economy, and the transport industry ushers in a golden era of multimodal transport. Anchored in the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, DFAC Liuzhou Motor will continue to refine efficient, reliable, and green commercial vehicle equipment, helping transport companies seize the dividends of river-sea intermodal transport and promoting Southwest-made products to sail to the ASEAN market.
