Recently
SCANIA China held a presser in Beijing. The GM of SCANIA China Steve Wager, the
Director of Dealership Network Development in SCANIA China Staffan Ärlebo and the
Pre-sale Director of SCANIA China Mike Janssen, were present. They summarized
SCANIA’s sales performance in the first half year and answered the questions
raised by the YUNSHUREN reporter concerning dealership network, after-sale
service and product orientation.
As
introduced by Steve, the sales performance of SCANIA has always been on a lane
of stable development, “Within the past 12 months, the sales have reached an
inflection point, that is, an explosive growth. According to statistics,
currently the sales of SCANIA have taken the first place in terms of market
share among that of all the imported tractor brands. ”This is suffice to prove that
the fuel economy and the uptime of SCANIA is trustworthy for customers.
Then
where does this continuously deepening trust come from?
Stick to the main specifications, entry-level model won’t easily
compromise
Days
ago SCANIA released in a low profile its 2017 product of new specifications
that comply with State =
5 * ROMANVemission standard and received numerous orders.
Instead
of making minor adaptations to cater to the local conditions on the basis of
Euro 5 emission standard, the new specified product is equipped with SCANIA Euro 6 engine as its
standard specification, which is a mature technology that has passed the acid
test of markets abroad. Therefore we can see in terms of sustainability, SCANIA
never compromises.
As a
matter of fact, the models customized for each market or each country vary, so
do the actual operational requirements of customers. The customization service
SCANIA offers to users is rather simple, that is, just define your model on the
basis of SCANIA modular production system and select from the “Grand Menu” of
the system.
Steve
disclosed that, “ the SCANIA GN410 released this year is an entry-level vehicle,
the transmission system adopts entirely the core specifications of SCANIA. ”
It’s
learned that there are 2 specifications for SCANIA’s entry-level products, the GN410
4╳2 and GN410 6╳2. Their transmission systems has much in common with the high-end
products, including intelligent shift gearbox, original wind deflector, G-shape
cabin with double sleepers. Except for some differences in terms of interior
decorations in the cabin, these 2 models are in full alignment with SCANIA
standard without compromising a bit in fuel consumption and security.
The “customization” mode dispels
customers’ impression of SCANIA being “unchangeable” aloof. The entry-level
models SCANIA released are full of sincerity toward customers, for whose
practical demands adjustments are made, for example, drum brakes could be
installed for Chinese customers.
The Pre-sale Director in SCANIA China Mike Janssen showed full
confidence in the entry-level product, “We hope this model could appeal more
Chinese customers and let those who used to drive Chinese-brand vehicles try
the products of SCANIA.”
The development of dealership network is accelerated
Dealership
network is vital to the sale of brand products. In this conference, the
development of dealership is also a key subject. The network service division
used to be under the purview of the after-sale service department and presently
becomes an independent function, from which we can see its increasing
importance.
Staffan
was appointed as director of dealership network development in SCANIA China. “My
task is not only to further expand, improve the existing dealership network,
but meanwhile to progressively enhance the service quality of the network,
which is necessary for business growth. SCANIA China will also keep an eye on
these two core businesses on an overall level, and further increase investment in
this field. ” he said.
In
the future, SCANIA China plans to recruit 3 dealers every year, to build a more
cohesive service network. Staffan added, “2 agents became our dealers in the
first half year, and there might be 3 more in the second half year. Apart from
this, we’ll intensify the input in the western area.”
Fuel economy and after-sale protection
Janssen
emphasized that users who choose the product of new specifications that comply
with State =
5 * ROMANVemission standard, needn’t worry about the possibility of cost increase.
The fuel economy of State =
5 * ROMANVproduct exceeds that of the last-generation product by 5% or
higher, which helps the users save considerable cost in fuel. That is to say,
if this vehicle travels 300,000 km each year, its yearly fuel saving will be up
to RMB 25,000-30,000 yuan.
Besides,
SCANIA further extends the after-sale service plan, in which the customers who
purchase new vehicles would be able to purchase maintenance and repair service extended
to more years at a discounted price. Presently the maintenance and repair
service plan SCANIA is able to provide is as long as 7 years, or 2.1 million
km, and customers are able to enjoy this service at any authorized service
outlet nationwide. If customers sign large plan agreement, they are able to
fill or change machine oil free of charge in the service station of SCANIA.
As
to whether SCANIA will introduce high-end models into China, Janssen replied,
“Our product portfolio aims at the real demands in Chinese customer market,
which means any product meets the demand of Chinese customers, we’ll consider bringing
it to China.”
Furthermore,
Steve shared the latest achievement of SCANIA in passenger bus field, “It’s our
great honor to sign a contract with Shanghai Airport Bus regarding 25 ‘Touring’
buses, which will be used to carry passengers on the route from Pudong Airport
to the urban area. We’ are very happy to make this breakthrough in passenger
bus field.” It’s learned the delivery of this batch of buses will be completed in
the period from this year to early next year.
According
to news update, the latest SCANIA S series recently released in Europe in 2016,
will appear in China, among which includes a S500 model with a Highline version
cabin. We do not know why this batch of vehicles is transported to China yet,
however, it’s believed all the transporters are looking forward to the future
dynamics of SCANIA.
The
entry-level model now on sale is expected to win more customers with its super
high price-quality ratio. The “insuperable” power of SCANIA along with its
series of measures is destined to cause a “cyclone” and heralds the return of
the king.
