On May 21st, BYD unveiled the BD11, an all-electric double-decker bus equipped with a new-generation blade battery bus chassis, in London, UK, marking a further step in the overseas expansion of BYD's commercial vehicles.
Frank Thorpe, General Manager of BYD's Commercial Vehicle Business in the UK, said, "BYD's BD11 pure electric double-decker bus adopts the latest BYD core technologies to ensure safe and reliable electric mobility, and is committed to providing clean and environmentally friendly public transportation services to consumers. BYD will continue to lead the global public transportation transition to green and sustainable development with its innovative technologies and products."
The BYD BD11 will go into operation later this year, with a maximum passenger capacity of 90, a battery capacity of up to 532 kWh, and support for dual-gun charging. The first models are designed specifically for London and will be followed by models adapted to the needs of different regions in the UK. BYD BD11 is equipped with a new generation of blade battery double-decker bus chassis that integrates the battery with the frame, which not only significantly reduces the weight of the vehicle and increases the range, but also improves the stability and handling of the vehicle. The entire vehicle design takes into account the comfort and safety of the driver and passengers, and can be equipped with advanced active safety features such as Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as an option.
The launch was held at the Museum of Public Transport in London, a historic location that houses the first double-decker electric bus equipped with BYD's K9E chassis. Currently, more than 1,800 BYD electric buses have been running on UK roads, with a total mileage of more than 127 million kilometers, equivalent to a cumulative reduction of 137 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. As of April this year, BYD's new energy footprint has spread to 88 countries and regions and more than 400 cities around the world. In the future, BYD will continue to lead the change of new energy vehicles and contribute to the development of global sustainable innovation.
