At a time when the global commercial vehicle energy transition continues to advance, CUMMINS has chosen a "Many Paths" technology route.

Electrification continues to advance, and Accelera accelerates its European layout.

CUMMINS' NEW ENERGY business Accelera brought products including the Advanced LFP 4T battery, 14Xe e-drive axle and eULFA e-drive axle this time.

Among them, the Advanced LFP 4T uses long-cell lithium iron phosphate battery technology. The battery packs support modular combination, allowing different numbers of battery packs to be configured according to vehicle requirements, providing different solutions for range and payload needs. The 14Xe is developed based on the mature 14X axle housing and adapts to different electric drive system requirements through modular design.

At the same time, Accelera continues to advance its European localization layout.

CUMMINS is expanding battery manufacturing capacity in Europe to provide commercial vehicle customers with localized battery products and supply support.

Products such as batteries and e-drive axles are gradually entering CUMMINS' commercial vehicle product system, and Accelera has also become an important business segment for CUMMINS in responding to the electrification transition.

Diesel power continues to upgrade, and the HELM platform expands product boundaries.

Beyond electrification, diesel power remains an important part of CUMMINS' presence at this IAA.

The all-new B7.2 engine is developed on the HELM™ platform and is aimed at applications such as medium-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles and buses. It has a maximum power of 261 kW and maximum torque of 1,350 N·m, and meets Euro VII emission requirements. CUMMINS official information shows that cumulative production of B-series engines has exceeded 13 million units.

The X10 further demonstrates the technical extensibility of the HELM platform.

The X10 Euro 7 engine has a maximum power of 336 kW and maximum torque of 2,240 N·m, and supports hybrid systems. Through high power density and compact design, the X10 further extends the performance of 10-liter-class engines upward.

The core idea of the HELM platform is to adapt to different fuel and power requirements on a unified basic architecture. For a global powertrain company like CUMMINS, this platform-based development approach can cover more markets and products.

Natural gas and hydrogen are also in CUMMINS' technology map.

At this IAA, the X15N natural gas engine was displayed to the European market for the first time.

This 15-liter-class natural gas engine has a maximum power of 485 kW and maximum torque of 3,000 N·m, mainly targeting high-load applications such as long-haul transportation. CUMMINS official data shows that the X15N has undergone 40,000 hours of bench testing and 5 million kilometers of road testing.

Hydrogen also appeared at CUMMINS' booth this time.

CUMMINS displayed a hydrogen internal combustion engine and NPROXX high-pressure hydrogen storage products, with hydrogen storage systems covering different applications such as 350 bar and 700 bar. At the same time, Accelera brought the fourth-generation hydrogen fuel cell system.

From diesel and natural gas to hybrid, and then to batteries, electric drives and hydrogen, CUMMINS placed multiple powertrain technologies at the same booth.

From engines to powertrain systems, the product range continues to expand.

These products, together with engines, electric drives and batteries, constitute CUMMINS' current commercial vehicle technology landscape.

For a company long known for engines and powertrain systems, the product boundaries CUMMINS covers today have far exceeded traditional engines themselves.

A century-old powertrain company faces a long-term transition.

  CUMMINS was founded in 1919.

For more than the past century, diesel engines have been CUMMINS' most important technology label. After entering the energy transition stage, CUMMINS began to gradually incorporate technologies such as batteries, electric drives, hybrid, natural gas and hydrogen into its own product system.

This change was very visible at the IAA 2026 booth.

Diesel engines are still being upgraded, natural gas engines continue to expand into the European market; battery, electric drive and fuel cell products continue to advance; hydrogen internal combustion engines and high-pressure hydrogen storage technology have also been included in the display scope.

The energy transition has changed the powertrain structure of commercial vehicles, and also requires a company like CUMMINS, with long-term powertrain technology accumulation, to continuously expand its technology boundaries.

Transporter Network commentary.

CUMMINS has long been deeply engaged in engines and powertrain systems, and now has also incorporated technologies such as batteries, electric drives, hybrid, natural gas and hydrogen into its product system. The "Many Paths" of IAA 2026 exactly presents this transition trajectory: traditional power continues to upgrade, NEW ENERGY technology continues to be invested in, and multiple energy routes are advanced together. Facing differences among countries in energy structure, infrastructure and emission reduction progress, CUMMINS is still following the path of a global powertrain company, continuously expanding its technology and product boundaries.
