In the light commercial vehicle sector, an increasing number of users are not just buying "a vehicle," but a complete set of scenario-based solutions ready for immediate use. Different applications—such as urban delivery, business travel, cold chain transport, and mobile catering—have distinct requirements for interior space, electrical systems, and chassis performance.

At the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show, SAIC MAXUS focused its light commercial vehicle strategy on addressing diverse scenarios. It launched the "industry's first super range-extended large van," the DANAE Super Range-Extended, and announced the establishment of the "SAIC Commercial Vehicle Global Modification Ecosystem Alliance" to reshape the modification system through standardization and collaboration.

From a Single Model to a Scenario Platform

The launch of the DANAE Super Range-Extended systematically balances range, cost, and spatial efficiency for high-frequency use cases.

The new vehicle has an official guide price starting from RMB 136,800, with a limited-time launch price from RMB 126,800. Customers who place orders during the launch period can enjoy benefits including a RMB 6,000 purchase discount, 0% interest for 2 years, and a RMB 4,000 trade-in subsidy.

Technologically, the DANAE Super Range-Extended is built around a "Three Bigs, Three Small" core structure. The "Three Bigs" refer to a big-brand battery, large battery capacity, and extended range. The vehicle is equipped with a 50 kWh CATL Tianxing battery, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 312 kilometers, sufficient for daily urban delivery. With a full tank and full charge, the combined range exceeds 1,260 kilometers, capable of handling intercity transport. The battery comes with a warranty of 8 years or 600,000 kilometers. Calculations show that the cost per kilometer in pure electric mode can be as low as approximately RMB 0.05.

The "Three Smalls" mean the range-extender system is compact, lightweight, and fuel-efficient. The Xingpai range extender is approximately half the size of traditional units, with a system weight under 70 kilograms. Without significantly encroaching on cargo space, it achieves a combined fuel and electricity consumption of about 2.65 liters per 100 kilometers. The overall operating cost is roughly one-third that of comparable fuel-powered vehicles.

For modifications and scenario expansion, the chassis and space are foundational. The DANAE Super Range-Extended offers a cargo volume of 8.9 cubic meters and a rated payload of 1.5 tons. Its 270-degree rear-opening doors and optimized wheel arch spacing for standard pallets significantly enhance loading efficiency. The vehicle features a rear-wheel-drive layout and a 5-leaf spring rear suspension, ensuring heavy-load and climbing capabilities. Its 100% full-time electric drive, tight turning radius, and ESC stability system provide agility in narrow city streets and frequent stop-and-go conditions.

High-strength steel accounts for over 70% of the body structure, with a roof crush strength of 6 tons. The vehicle has undergone cumulative global road validation of 1.5 million kilometers. These specifications provide a solid safety and structural foundation for subsequent modifications such as RVs, medical vehicles, and service vans.

According to official operational estimates, compared to traditional fuel light vans under similar usage intensity, the DANAE Super Range-Extended can generate approximately RMB 5,000 in additional monthly revenue. For individual operators who rely on their vehicles as a means of production, this translates directly into a significant economic advantage.

Standardizing Modifications: Transitioning from Product Capability to Ecosystem Capability

Alongside its focus on scenario-based applications, SAIC MAXUS is also prioritizing the development of a modification ecosystem. During the event, SAIC Commercial Vehicle, in partnership with the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and relevant sub-associations, modification companies, and supply chain partners, jointly initiated the establishment of the "SAIC Commercial Vehicle Global Modification Ecosystem Alliance."

Currently, the commercial vehicle modification market faces challenges such as non-uniform standards, inconsistent quality, and closed data interfaces. The Alliance focuses on three key areas: establishing product and construction standards that exceed national requirements; opening data interfaces between OEMs and modification companies to enable technical collaboration; and promoting the global adoption of Chinese modification standards, solutions, and products.

This move indicates that SAIC MAXUS is no longer merely participating as a vehicle manufacturer but is seeking to play a platform role within the modification value chain. Through open chassis architecture, technical collaboration, and joint standard-setting, it aims to enhance product consistency and safety across different scenarios while providing systemic support for Chinese modification companies to expand globally.

Multi-Scenario Product Implementation

At the show, the VALA HOUSE RV, developed on the DANAE Super Range-Extended chassis, was displayed. Featuring a one-button pop-up roof, underfloor heating, and a flexible seat layout, it achieves a two-level interior design, showcasing the application potential of the range-extended van in the RV sector. The DANAE V1L pet vehicle was also presented, specially optimized for pet transport and service industries.

Furthermore, the DANAE Super Range-Extended platform can adapt to scenarios including healthcare services, mobile catering, and medical emergency vehicles, demonstrating the chassis's extensibility in terms of power output and space configuration. The vehicle supports V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) external power discharge, facilitating the operation of mobile equipment.
