Recently, the first batch of 56 Volkswagen garbage compactor trucks, equipped with Dongfeng Cummins D6.7N gas engines, was delivered in bulk to LOGA, a leading sanitation company in Brazil. This marks a landmark project for Dongfeng Cummins in the South American sanitation clean energy sector, continuing to expand the application scenarios of its gas engine products in overseas markets.

The Constellation 26.280 garbage compactor delivered this time is Volkswagen's first commercial model in the field of renewable natural gas-powered vehicles. Since the second half of 2025, vehicles equipped with the Dongfeng Cummins D6.7N gas engine have undergone long-term field operational testing in local waste collection conditions. After fully validating the engine's power, economy, and reliability, LOGA finalized the bulk procurement order. The new vehicles will serve the waste collection and transportation needs in the São Paulo region, and Volkswagen plans to expand similar clean energy fleet projects to cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba.
As a leading sanitation operator in São Paulo, Brazil, LOGA is fully committed to decarbonizing its fleet. André Meira, the company's Operations Director, stated that this procurement represents another step forward in the fleet's sustainable development. Future new vehicle purchases will prioritize renewable natural gas and electric clean energy vehicles, balancing operational efficiency with reduced environmental impact, perfectly aligning with the local municipal sanitation low-carbon transition needs.

This impressive overseas delivery achievement is underpinned by efficient cross-border collaborative efforts. In November 2024, Dongfeng Cummins took the lead in initiating the project, forming a multinational R&D team with Cummins China, Cummins Brazil, and Volkswagen Brazil to rapidly advance the D6.7N gas engine's adaptation and iteration, new component development, and process optimization.

Facing challenges such as an 11-hour cross-border time difference, customized development, manufacturing quality, and supply chain control, the project team precisely identified core risk points and established a full-cycle management and control mechanism. They coordinated work continuously across day and night shifts to meet milestones, efficiently resolving R&D and production bottlenecks. Leveraging solid collaborative development and project management capabilities, the project cumulatively delivered 160 supporting engines, successfully opening an overseas channel for Dongfeng Cummins gas engines to be paired with Volkswagen Brazil's high-end commercial vehicles. This project has also developed mature cross-border collaboration and mass production delivery experience, establishing a standardized model for future overseas cooperation with various gas engine models.

The end customer's firm choice of the Dongfeng Cummins D6.7N gas engine stems from the product's comprehensive hardcore strength, specifically developed for urban sanitation operating conditions. According to the vehicle manufacturer, the performance of this system is comparable to diesel trucks, offering good torque suitable for frequent starts, rapid acceleration, and high tractive capacity—all essential characteristics for urban operations.

Powerful Performance, Adapting to High-Frequency Sanitation Start-Stop Conditions
The D6.7N engine delivers a maximum power of 280 HP and a maximum torque of 1100 N·m. With a lower minimum torque engagement speed, it ensures rapid response during start-up, acceleration, climbing, and overtaking, perfectly matching the frequent start-stop requirements of waste collection vehicles.
Fuel Economy and Efficiency, Optimizing Total Cost of Ownership
The engine's thermal efficiency is improved by 5%. A high-precision gas injection system precisely controls the air-fuel ratio, optimizing gas consumption across all operating conditions. The lightweight engine design, combined with a long-range vehicle solution, effectively reduces fuel expenses, helping fleets quickly recover their investment.
Reliability Across All Conditions, Ensuring Durability Under High-Intensity Operations
Having undergone over 30,000 hours of bench durability validation, the engine can continuously withstand the high-intensity, long-hour operational loads of sanitation vehicles, reducing downtime and maintenance losses.
Quiet and Low Noise, Suited for Dense Urban Operations
The engine features excellent NVH performance, with idle noise as low as 71.6 dBA. When performing waste collection in densely populated urban areas, it effectively reduces noise disturbance, meeting the essential requirements of urban sanitation operations.
Intelligent Digitalization, Empowering Fleet Fine Management
Equipped with the Cummins intelligent remote system, it supports real-time monitoring of engine operating status and fault warnings. Leveraging big data analysis of fleet operational data, it continuously optimizes operational strategies to help fleets reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Leveraging Cummins' business network covering over 190 countries and regions, Dongfeng Cummins continues to advance its global powertrain strategy, achieving successes in multiple overseas markets. Landmark power system projects have been secured in Vietnam, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and other regions, with steady expansion in European, Central Asian, and West African markets, forming a diversified overseas growth matrix.
