On Oct.22, the whole-vehicle delivery ceremony of a thousand HONGYAN GENLYON C500s was held ceremoniously in Chongqing. As the truck horns rang aloud in the mountainous city, brand new awe-inspiring HONGYAN GENLYON C500s drove off the factory in procession, like “gladiators” who are to enter the fighting venue. These are the ingenious products SAIC HONGYAN presents to the market in 2016 after their multiple years of diligent research and development—brand new GENLYON C500 series which is HONGYAN’s 5th-generation new model.
On the delivery ceremony, Xia Hongbin, CPC secretary of SAIC HONGYAN, was the first to give a speech. He welcomed the attending guests and introduced that, the launch of GENLYON 500 series is a sign which shows HONGYAN Automobiles has successfully completed the overall upgrading of products, materializing the full coverage in 7-13 litre engines with capacity varying from 215 h.p.to 560 h.p., and with a further perfected paradigm of product types, is able to offer more plentiful power options to users. SAIC HONGYAN has become one of the enterprises in the heavy truck industry that can provide widest power options.
500 series include GENLYON C500, M500; KINGKANG C500 and M500 are upgraded versions of the previous C100, M100. both accommodate to the actual conditions of China’s highways and are in compliance with the strict requirements in laws and regulations, satisfying users’ demands under multiple transport and working conditions.
Luca Borsano, SAIC HONGYAN’s chief engineer from Italy, on the basis of the overall value cost within vehicles’ life cycle, elucidated the R & D process of the new HONGYAN GENLYON C500 series products and their performance par excellence as well as the embodiment of their value.This brand new series of SAIC Hongyan adhered to the whole-vehecle technology of Iveco, posesses not only outstanding appearance but also high value connotation. He said, there were two primary goals in the R & D of the 5th-generation model, that is, enhancing payload-structure and average velocity, therefore in the whole R & D process, reducing vehicle equipment weight and materializing high engine power became the key issues. To summarize, it means the new GENLYON 500 series will provide the golden power technological combination to meet the needs of efficient logistic transport.
Among the new series launched, the C500 model equipped with C11 litre engine with a capacity of 450 h.p.is a highlight. First, this model owns a new heart—C11 litre engine which, with a rated h.p.of 450 CV, has a mature application in international market and is reputed for its advantages such as low fuel consumption, low emission, large torque, light weight,durability,low noise and long life of oil. Meanwhile, it is nimble at low-speed response and quick at low-temperature starting, with a maximal mileage for international standard B10 for engines’ working life exceeding 1,500,000 KM.
Secondly, the new GENLYON 500 series is equipped with integrated light-weight HONGYAN axle which adopted Italian FPT technology. Gear-grinding technique is applied so its minimal gear ratio reaches 2.846.
Thirdly, floor shift is applied to realize the goal of reducing fuel consumption. The classic 12-speed transmission has multiple forms for power take off so as to satisfy various modification demands and has fewer gears so operation is convenient; and the 16-speed transmission, with a gear ratio of wide range and small inter-grade difference, owns the advantages of strong climbing capability and economic fuel consumption.
Besides, in order to further enhance the payload-structure-propellant ratio, the new GENLYON 500 series products adopt a series of new materials and new technologies such as EMTB2 light-weight equalizing type of suspension, aluminum alloy wheel rims, aluminum-case transmission, light-weight traction equipment, limit the total weight of the whole vehicle within 7.8 tons and realize the maximal load in transport under the precondition of guaranteeing safety. Test results indicate their fuel consumption is at least 3% less than other products in the same class in China currently. Although light weight is not a major selling point of the new GENLYON C500, it’s not to be ignored that the new GENLYON 6x4 tractor has become the most valuable new heavy truck product since the state authority starts to rigidify the implementation of the new regulation on the limit of over-weighted trucks.
Luca took the value of a long-distance tractor within the total cost of ownership (TCO) as an instance. In normal condition its TCO value is RMB4,800,000 yuan, while new HONGYAN GENLYON reduces cost consumption for users by 5% each year and saves CNY240,000 YUAN in 5 years. He emphasized that it is the vehicle’s integral utility cycle value that the transport enterprises or individual users needs to evaluate.
Yang Hanlin, SAIC HONGYAN G.M., publicized the prices of the new GENLYON C500 State-V Emission Standard models on the site of this event. Compared with the other State-V Emission Standard vehicles of the same class in the market, the prices of the new HONGYAN C500 series are quite competitive.
Yang said: “It takes a long time to develop a new product. The development of the new GENLYON C500 series equipped with C11 engines focuses on 6x4 models which are in the best conformity with the characteristics of quick logistics high-way transport. Combined with the equipment of C11 engines, the perfect match of fuel-saving and high efficiency is realized. Furthermore, the launch of these products synchronized with the issuance of new state regulations, which proves we step in the right rhythm.”
It’s reported that the ABS system equipped on the whole series of GENLYON 500, when used on tractors and cargo trucks, can extend the world-renowned security functions of WABCO such as EBL,ESC etc. so that vehicles will be more stable and safer in driving; convenient VOSS quick connector is adopted so that the stability and airtight-ness of air brake hoses is more efficient,air leakage for the whole vehicle and working frequency of air compressor are reduced; new-generation air processing unit (APU)from world renown company is adopted which integrates functions like air drier, 4-circuit protection valve, pressure limiting valve and whose unique Time Switch structure realizes regeneration function and achieves better oil filtering effect so as to have an overall enhancement on braking performance.
Up to now SAIC HONGYAN’s SPM spare part information management system has officially been online, which, on the basis of absorbing the management advantages of the previous VEI system, has an overall upgrade on the previous one so as to achieve the effect of prompt spare part delivery, stable spare part quality and abundant options. Meanwhile, hundreds of SAIC HONGYAN core service stations guarentee effective after-sale service at various major logistic routes nationwide. Jieshida vehicle linking network, the standard network setting of the 500 series products, provides 10 exclusive functions to satisfy multi-dimensional demands of users, such as analysis on transport process, enable users to establish their own fleet management platform so as to maximize the usage value of the vehicles.
