　　China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as "CNHTC") is the earliest enterprise in China to research, develop and manufacture heavy-duty trucks, and is currently the leading enterprise in China's heavy-duty truck industry. Its predecessor was established in 1958 as Jinan Automobile Manufacturing Plant. In April 1960, the plant trial-produced China's first heavy-duty truck—the Huanghe (Yellow River) brand JN150 8-ton heavy-duty truck, ending the history of China's inability to produce heavy-duty trucks. In 1983, in order to thoroughly change the "lack of heavy-duty vehicles" situation in the automobile industry and address the low-level development of the heavy-duty truck industry, the state established China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, which was an enterprise directly under the central government and under the leadership of the State Council. In 1987, it was separately listed in the state plan. In 1991, it was listed as one of the 56 national comprehensive pilot enterprise groups of the State Council. In 1993, it was approved as a pilot enterprise for authorized operation of state-owned assets, and was one of the first batch of pilot enterprises in China to implement authorized operation of state-owned assets. In July 2000, the State Council decided to carry out reform and restructuring of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, and the main part was transferred to the Shandong Provincial Government for administration. On January 18, 2001, the new China National Heavy Duty Truck Group was established on this basis. It is now a key wholly state-owned enterprise under the province, with registered capital of RMB 976.58 million and paid-in capital of RMB 996.58 million. By the end of 2011, CNHTC had an annual production capacity of 150,000 complete vehicles, 130,000 engines, 140,000 transmissions, 340,000 axles, and 33,000 modified vehicles.
