The IAA is the oldest exhibition in Germany. The first IAA was held in Berlin in 1897. In 1947 and 1949, German automobile and parts manufacturers participated in the Export Fair held in Hanover, where the automobile hall attracted audiences like a magnet. In April 1951, the IAA was first held in Frankfurt, attracting 570,000 visitors. Only six months later, another edition was held in Berlin with 290,000 visitors. From the 35th edition onwards, the IAA left its traditional host city of Berlin and returned to Frankfurt am Main, thereafter being held every two years. The 40th IAA in 1961 set a record with 950,000 visitors. In 1989, 2,000 exhibitors occupied 252,000 square meters, and over 1.2 million visitors attended. Given this, the VDA decided to split the IAA into two events: one for passenger cars and parts in Frankfurt in odd-numbered years, and one for commercial vehicles and parts in Hanover in even-numbered years. The highlight of the show is the dedicated display of commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, and their parts, providing an international platform for every automobile enthusiast.

The 66th edition in 2016 had 2,000 exhibitors from 45 countries and regions, of which 60% came from abroad; more than 260,000 people visited, with 85% being professional visitors, and one-third of these came from the automotive industry.

The history of the Wörth plant dates back to 1960 when the former Daimler-Benz company purchased an industrial area of about 1.5 million square meters, located in the Wörth district near Karlsruhe. Today, the Wörth plant covers an area of 2.4 million square meters, with pure production areas occupying around 480,000 square meters. This is a place where up to 470 trucks are produced daily. Approximately 60% of products are exported to over 150 countries. In Europe, nearly one-third of trucks in the 6.5 to 16-ton class come from the Mercedes-Benz Wörth plant.

The editor of "Transporters" visited the Mercedes-Benz Safety Center in person to watch the automatic emergency braking function tests under three scenarios. The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system: when a collision is unavoidable and the driver has not taken any braking action, the system can trigger this function based on the current vehicle speed and urgency, completely avoiding or mitigating the impact. It is important to emphasize that the vehicle's speed is between 50-80 km/h, consistent with normal driving conditions, which is likely the difference.
